Amidst escalating concerns over housing, climate change, and civil rights, Florida Rising endorsed 66 progressive candidates before the 2022 primaries and midterm elections, aiming to shift Florida toward fairer policies based on its history of electoral impact. The organization faced the challenge of energizing Black and brown voters in an environment clouded by political disillusionment and misinformation. With support from GAROI Media, Florida Rising aimed to amplify changemakers’ voices during an intensely competitive election period, building on the organization’s historical achievements and momentum from previous electoral successes to inspire a strong turnout at the polls.

Our Approach

GAROI Media implemented a targeted digital campaign in alignment with Florida Rising for the 2022 General Election, focusing on core issues like housing, employment, criminal justice reform, reproductive rights, and climate action, integral to the Justice on Every Block initiative. Utilizing in-depth voter data from Florida Rising’s extensive field outreach, the campaign strategically targeted specific individuals in designated districts, following established voter criteria from previous field activities.

The approach was broadened through an audience expansion strategy, aimed at capturing a wider segment of potential voters while still maintaining relevance to the core issues. This ensured the digital campaign resonated across a broader demographic spectrum while retaining the specificity of the outreach.

In marrying GAROI Mediaโ€™s digital expertise with Florida Rising’s on-the-ground knowledge and social objectives, the campaign achieved a seamless integration of online and offline mobilization efforts. This synergy between digital and traditional canvassing methods led to a unified and potent voter engagement strategy, significantly amplifying voter turnout and support for the endorsed candidates, particularly within Black and brown communities.

Return on Investment

In cooperation with GAROI Media, the Florida Rising 2022 General Election campaign achieved significant results. The strategically focused initiatives accrued 2,084,952 impressions and 2,070 clicks, impacting 143,627 voters and amplifying the presence of Florida Rising’s endorsed candidates.

Moreover, the campaign utilized customized 30-second and 15-second video ads for each candidate, which attained 1,498,060 impressions and 4,928 clicks from 102,475 voters, achieving an outstanding click-through rate (CTR) of 0.33%, far exceeding the standard benchmark of 0.10%.

Beyond merely raising awareness, this campaign effectively highlighted the distinct values of the endorsed candidates, particularly resonating with Black and brown voters leading to tangible increases in voter engagement.

Particularly noteworthy was the campaign’s video engagement, which alone produced 398,377 impressions and 127 clicks, demonstrating the compelling nature of the video content. This segment played a crucial role in the overall strategy, especially with a significant 25% view rate for News/Politics content and an impressive average YouTube view rate of 31.9%, highlighting the quality and relevance of the messaging.

These concerted efforts effectively raised awareness and educated the voters of Miami Gardens on the City Council referendum, with the resolution passing by a decisive 65% margin. The campaign not only elevated the public’s understanding of the issues at hand but also showcased the power of targeted digital outreach in mobilizing community action and participation.
